Director & Colorist
J.Vardy Films
I’m a director and colorist. I make films that feel like something — and I grade them so that feeling survives all the way to delivery. Commercial, narrative or private, the craft is the same: honest light, a restrained hand, and a look that serves the story instead of shouting over it.
Start a projectWhat I’m chasing
A great film doesn’t announce its technique. The camera move, the cut, the grade — they should disappear into the feeling. My job is to make deliberate choices that read as effortless: to know when to hold a frame, when to let the color breathe, and when to get out of the story’s way.
Color is where that comes together. A grade can turn footage into a world — but only if it’s in service of the story. I build looks that are cinematic and consistent, that flatter skin and honor light, and that still feel like they belong to the film they’re in.
A considered process
Understand the feeling
Before anything technical, we agree on what the film should make someone feel. Every later decision answers to that.
Craft with restraint
Strong choices, quietly made — framing, pacing and motion that carry the story without competing with it.
Finish with color
A grade that ties it together — cinematic, consistent, and true to what the camera captured. Delivered clean, on time.
